Welcome to Bound Brook

Bound Brook – It is a small, tight-knit residential community with a cosmopolitan downtown that boasts a lively arts and commercial scene.  In addition to being the cultural center for the area, Bound Brook’s geographical location is of importance to the small Borough with convenient access to many of the State’s major roads.  It is also a New Jersey designated Transit Village with mass-transportation opportunities available to the New York City Metropolitan Area.

Help Bound Brook remain a “great place to live, work and play”

Maintain your lawn as per Borough Code.

Keep your trees, shrubs and bushes trimmed to allow for sidewalk passage and corner visibility.

Keep your front, side and rear yards free of trash and rubbish.

Place all garbage in approved garbage cans and recycling in Somerset County issued bins for curbside collection.

Place garbage cans curbside after 5 p.m. the night before your collection and remove from the curb by 8 p.m. day of collection.

Place appropriate amount of bulk stickers on bulk garbage at curb after 5 p.m. the night before your collection.

Vehicles should remain in operable condition with valid license plates and registration.

Keep all vehicles off lawns.

Guidelines for Resident Trash Removal of Household Garbage

Solid Waste Collection Service

Will collect Two (2) cans OR bags per week. Your garbage is to be placed curbside, no earlier than 6 p.m. on the evening before your scheduled pick up. Garbage collection begins at 5 a.m. on the scheduled day. The container is not to exceed 40 gallon capacity with two handles and a lid.

During the months of July, August, and December, contractor will collect Three (3) cans of house hold trash. If a can or bag is over the 40 gallon limit, stickers are required. The sticker is to be affixed in a visible location.

Holiday Collection

Thanksgiving Day collection is collected Friday after Thanksgiving Day.

Christmas Day collection is collected the following business day.

County Recycling – 732-469-3363

Designated recycling containers available at Borough Hall for residents south of Union Avenue. Designated recycling containers available through the County for residents North of Union Avenue.

Consumer Electronics

Electronic drop off is located at the Public Works Facility, 411 Chimney Rock Road, Bridgewater between Buildings B&C.   Weekday drop-off is Monday through Friday 7a.m. – 3p.m.

Leaves

Are placed in Leaf Bio-degradable bags and placed at the curb for collection on the scheduled day below. NO PLASTIC BAGS. Collections are scheduled mid-October through mid-December. After December, leaves may be taken to Natures Choice in Bridgewater.

Brush & Yard Debris

All brush and/or yard debris must be bundled in six foot lengths or placed in garbage cans not to exceed 25 lbs. and placed at the curb for pick up on the appropriate day. Yard debris consists of small twigs, branches with leaves attached, big weeds, etc.

Grass Clippings

Are taken to Nature’s Choice, 136 Foothill Road, Bridgewater, NJ. Contact Nature’s Choice, 732-469-1500 for seasonal operation times.

Bulk Collection

Bulk collection is scheduled on your regular garbage collection day. Stickers are required for bulk items. One (1) sticker is for every 25 pounds. Sticker Guide below.

Stickers can be purchased from the Finance Department, cash or check only for $6.00.

Metal Collection

Metal items are collected on the third Friday of each month. Metal collections are scheduled by calling 732-356-0833 ext. 635. No stickers required. *Freon must be removed by a licensed contractor and the certification of removal affixed prior to collection.
