Ceremony for the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a ceremony will held to raise the rainbow flag at Borough Hall on June 28th at 10 a.m.

The Stonewall Riots (also referred to as the Stonewall Uprising or the Stonewall Rebellion) were a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations by members of the gay (LGBTQ) community against a police raid that took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. They are widely considered to constitute the most important event leading to the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBT rights in the United States.

A MESSAGE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF CODE ENFORCEMENT

The Borough Code prohibits placing discarded materials (trash, debris, furniture appliances, etc.) at the curb to be picked up, unless the appropriate garbage/refuse stickers have been purchased and affixed to the items and placed at the curb during your designated pick up time. Violators will receive a summons, which carries a minimum fine of $150.
Failure to remove the items can result in additional summonses.
Further disregard of the Borough Code will result in Borough removing the items and charging the property owner with the cost of removal in addition to fines.
Thank you for your cooperation.
